Institutional change and development

My work in leading change takes on different forms which span from advising and influencing, leading and managing institutional-level change. I use a combination of pedagogical, legislative, and technical expertise to work with colleagues.

In the last year I have led an institutional-level digital response to the COVID pandemic, and I have had to rely heavily upon my own experiences of technology implementation, as a distance learning student, and the research I conducted as part of my PhD in e-Research and Technology Enhanced Learning at Lancaster University.

In the case studies section you can see some examples of significant VLE change, the implementation of lecture capture, access and accessibility, and pedagogically informed data analysis.

Access and accessibility

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Developing digital assessments

During the pandemic I had to work to transition an institution’s examination strategy and delivery, to ensure continuity of students’ experience was maintained. I had to advise and influence the approaches of the DVC Academic and senior managers (Deans/Deans of Student Experience) to find a way to manage, transition, and evaluate changes to pedagogy and staff activities to work in an online environment. In addition the University took the unusual step of transferring all examinations to timed online exercises (at a maximum of 4 to 6 hours for around 500 exams).
